Silver Stream Railway
The Silver Stream Railway, located on Reynolds Bach Dr in Upper Hutt, Wellington, is a working heritage railway and is open on Sundays 11am to 4pm for train rides.
Silver Steam Railway's mission is to restore and preserve heritage railway memorabilia - in particular items that relate to the Wellington region.
They are open to the public for rides every second Sunday of the year with a steam locomotive in service, supplemented by diesel locomotive or railcar.
The Silver Stream Railway is a heritage railway at Silverstream in the Hutt Valley near Wellington, New Zealand. It regularly operates preserved New Zealand Railways and industrial steam and diesel locomotives along a restored section of the Hutt Valley Line (part of the Wairarapa Line) before a deviation was built in 1954.
History: The beginnings of the Silver Stream Railway were in 1967 when the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Railway and Locomotive Society began a collection of locomotives and rolling stock. Tracklaying on the old formation of the Hutt Valley Line did not begin until 1977. The collection of locomotives and rolling stock had previously been stored at a site by the Gracefield Branch in Seaview, and this was transferred to the present Silverstream site in 1984. The official opening of the full 1.5 kilometer track took place on 15 February 1986.
I was a member of this group from 2003 to 2012 I have been a fireman for them on their Steam locos. This is usually on a roster basis and I was down in Wellington once a month firing the loco's. I have also passed their shunter loco's drivers ticket. I also help out over other special days with displaying my portable model railway layouts at their events. Unfortunately a lot of this has come to a stop over the last 10 years due to my work commitments, but I hope to get back into it at some stage.

Some Photos I have taken over the years.
These photos were taken on the 6th of March 2011, National Childrens' Day Special with two Steam locos (C 847 & L 509) and Railcar (Rm30) running. This day also featured my Thomas layout as well.
The next 3 photos were taken on my last rostered day on the 20 of March 2011. They are of the Fowler 0.4.0 Loco ex Napier Harbour Board now owned by Bryan Bishop. This was the loco I was firing for the day.
National Childrens Day 4th of March 2012. My Thomas layout was once again there for the Kids to Veiw. Photos taken by Charley Masters and Colin Hughes.
December 16th 2012 was Silver Streams Xmas speical. This time it was the turn of my Xmas layout to be seen down in the Hutt Valley, Wellington.
